Collecting filtered rainwater in a cistern tank is the first step to operating a rainwater irrigation system. The second step involves pumping that water to its destination. The simplest system uses a manually operated pump that is attended by the user.

A more common system is a pump that can be controlled either manually OR automatically. This system allows the pump to start from a remote signal (like from an irrigation controller) and shut itself off when the tank level is low. It can also signal for a switchover to city water or well water when the cistern is empty.

The Basic Automatic Control System from Purucker Engineering is a simple control package that allows you to start and run your irrigation pump manually or automatically with a signal from your irrigation controller. It may be used with either submersible or self-priming, above-ground pumps. This control panel may be mounted remotely from the tank and installed in your garage or basement. Or it may be mounted right at the pump.

The following features are included:

· NEMA 4X rated fiberglass enclosure. 12"H X 10"W X 6"D
· Manual/Off/Auto switch for pump control.
· Lights to indicate pump run and low level shutdown.
· Contactor and fuses to start and protect a single phase pump up to ½ HP.
· Contacts for automatic start from irrigation controller or timer.
· Level float to be mounted in cistern and shut down the pump on low level.
· Contacts to signal the opening and closing of an alternate water supply valve when tank is empty.
